Hello all, I was wondering what size pelican I should buy? Im looking for a case that will hold a 40D, 18-55, 50, and maybe a 50-250 along with batteries. I need it to be waterproof because I want it to be able to fit in my backpack while I go fishing. What is the smallest pelican I can get away with? I was thinking the 1300 if I could squeeze it. Let me know what you think.

Are you sold on a Pelican and not some sort of dry bag? Of course it would require lens pouches and so forth.

Would certainly be lighter and softer on your back. I think it would be more waterproof as well unless you oil the creases on the Pelican. BTW, I own a pelican and love it :)

Edit: I thought about this a little bit more. Dry bags are also great because you could snap it outside of your backpack. They really are amazing. I've used them lots before, but not for camera gear, yet, but I will.

These are all good ideas and I will check them out. I like the idea of pelican because I have used them before and often times there are rocks and logs I bump into while fishing. The other thing is it needs to be submersible incase I go down while crossing the creek. I thought about dry bags but they don't have the protection I want.

EDIT: I just looked at the Lowepro and it looks nice but man that is expensive.

The 1400 would be a good size to use. I've gotten my camera and two lenses in there to fit snugly. When I was canoeing whitewater our boat tipped and my 1550 pelican went down 2 miles of rapids. We found it three hours later dry as a bone. love these suckers.

Thinking about going with the 1400 and seeing how everything lays out, I just don't think any where local sells them. Where should I order one online from?

I have a 1200 and I think you can fit all of that in there. If you live in a decent size city, go check out some sports stores and you might find one that has a couple in stock. Gander Mountain here has a few small ones along with the rifle sized ones.
