What does everyone think of the proposed 18 game season? I don't like it, personally. As much as I love football and would love to have another weekend of it, I think that's just a little too much to ask of the players. Football is such a grueling game and adding another game could really add to not only the odds of getting hurt during the extra game, but also to the potential of more long-term injuries from added wear & tear on their bodies.

The league getting greedy! Beyond that they need to adjust how teams play thursday games. Some teams play on sunday and then asked to turn around for thursday. Its too quick and the league should combo the thursday games with a bye week. Same thought process as the 18 game schedule. The players need to rest and heal.

While we're talking about the Raiders, Jacoby Ford looks like a stud. Man that kid can play. That catch he made this weekend was outstanding, and he's been making big plays since they brought him up. Just think what he could do if the Raiders had a QB!

They say they'll move to two bye weeks if they go to 18 games, but I'm not sure if that's really enough. These guys never really get healed up fully during the season anyways, so an extra bye week won't do anything other than give them a little breather.

I kind of agree with you on the Thursday night games. The only problem is that they'd have to push the bye weeks later into the season. That is feasible though, since they started the byes in week 4 this year (which is too early in my opinion).

Maybe they could push the bye weeks a little later in the season and then start running two Saturday night games when college football ends. Then two of the teams that play on Saturday can play the Thursday night game. The problem with that scenario is that those two teams would be playing Sun-Sat-Thurs. Three games in 12 days might not be much better than having the one short week. Probably make for a scheduling nightmare as well.

Or maybe it's not as bad we think and the extended rest after the Thursday night game makes up for the short week.

Totally agreed. Ray Lewis complained about the thursday games. As we all know he is very local about this. A big issue is that the nature of the game does not lend itself to an allstar game in the middle of the season like in other sports. That could be used as a universal bye in the middle of the season for everyone. However, it will never happend because of the sports physical nature.

I agree 100% and i'm wondering if there will even be a full season next year :(

I think what the Raiders need more then a QB is a solid O line . We haven't had one in years . How good could Jason be if he had a solid line to play behind ? It's hard to be good , running for your life !
But yes , Ford looks like a winner .

Interesting - "USA Today’s Michael McCarthy reports that the league plans to announce later Tuesday that full refunds will be given to general admission seats for all preseason and regular season games canceled by a work stoppage in 2011. "

I saw that at NFL.com. They've released the policy. I think it's a just-in-case move. At least I hope so.

It was just announced. I'm sure he'll be off the no-drop list in a few hours. Patience young grasshopper, patience.

I was just wondering why he was "un-dropable". I have never seen the little red negative sign before... What makes him special (aside from being a point getter who screwed me over by getting injured...)

Usually high potential players are pre-ranked before the season starts. Those high caliber players are labeled in that way. This helps protect against dropping a great player for someone else to pick up. Although i do agree if the player is either injured or playing horribly you should be able to drop them no matter how good they were in the previous season.
