I reriged the neck strap anchors Big 1\2 " rings on the body eyes. spring loaded swiveling clips on the strap./ From the key acsessories dept at the hardware store.Prevents twists in the last 3" of the strap. The standard connnect always pulls the strap across controls About $2 of gear. Doesn't mar the body.Separate strap from body in 2 moves I tape over the thumb slides just in case they catch. The strap would only come off mine for sevice

Check out the Black Rapid straps. No strain on the neck.

So i purchased a Canon E1 hand strap from my local camera shop and tried it out. Its great for holding the camera when not taking pictures but its VERY uncomfortable when taking pictures, especially when you have to turn the wheel for the exposure/shutter speed. Im taking it back right away. I guess no strap.

You don't need a strap. I've been 18 months without one now. When I am not shooting, the camera goes back in my shoulder bag ASAP. If I have a shoot where I know I will be using the camera in drop-prone situations, I will put the strap on for that day only.

I use the strap that came with the CPS membership which is identical to the one made by Opteca. Both straps have quick disconnects allowing the major pat of the strap to be removed. The parts are interchangeable so I can use the strap when needed and remove it when the camera is on the monopod with the 300.

I believe this is the one (external link).

I've been anti-strap for quite sometime (using various hand straps, or just carrying the camera). But after a recent vacation and other day-long events, I realized I needed something that actually worked.

I recently picked up a RS-7 from a local shop. A friend who was with was a little surprised I would spend so much on just a strap! :) Anyway... I LOVE it. I can't imagine anything else working nearly as well.

I have that one thinking it would be an improvement, but then you have large clips bouncing around off your knuckes, face and LCD when shooting. It's even more annoying than a standard strap! (Well at least to me it was.)

THIS!

I never have liked traditional neck straps as they are worthless when carrying a large camera with a large lens. I can carry a 1D body with a 100-400L around all day long with zero strain on my neck, back, shoulders or arms with a Black Rapid strap. It really is the ultimate way to carry about your camera, have it ready in a second flat and still be able to keep both of your hands totally free.

Nobody cares about your gear list...

Another fan of BlackRapid straps. I've had one of the originals for quite some time, upgraded it to the newer clasp/ring, and its been great. I'm strapless whenever I can, but when I know I'll be carrying one or more cameras all day, and want to free my hands once in a while on goes the RS. When I'm using two bodies, one is on a RS, the other is on a neck strap. Quick to grab either, they're not clanking into each other, I can get my hands free if I need them, and I look like a total geek. :)

I just ordered one of the new Sport models. Haven't used it yet, but hoping it solves the one issue I have with my RS. It tends to walk down my shoulder, and I have to slide it back up. The Sport is bulkier, so I'll only use it for all day events, like weddings, but I think it'll solve the problem.

The other thing I've done is drill a hole in the side of my RRS base plates, so I don't use the BR rings on my cameras. Since my baseplates are always mounted, I can just clip on the strap when I want to use it, no little nubbin hanging out the bottom when I'm not using it. I've also attached one of BR's clasps to a regular strap(both ends), so when I'm using two bodies it can clasp to the same hole.

Don't. That's no fun. I would look into a hand strap, you'll be surprised at how comfortable and stable they are to work with. I like the Markins and the Herringbone the best.
