Too bad it's not on the list.

It doesn't hurt to ask, though ;)

It's still an option, the seller just presumed that refurbs would offer the greatest deal.

70-200/2.8IS mkii $2300 his price $1380 + whatever associated fees.

You should get what YOU want. How is it that so many people ask "what should I buy?" of complete strangers? Use the search function and look at the reviews for what you might need and go from there!

If I had the chance to get that offer I would do whatever I needed to take advantage of it. Collect cans, borrow, sell stuff, etc.

I could NOT agree with this any more than I already do.

Once in a while when I click on threads like that I specify that the OP should purchase the item THEY feel THEY would utilize for THEIR photography. I try to mention even though a majority might like option B more doesn't mean the OP would be happy with it. We all have different preferences, likes, disslikes, and go about things differently.

One thing that really makes me chuckle is when I see people reccomend something and they follow it up with "you won't be disappointed."

Thats a good friend you have there. He just basically gave you $500. He could have bought the lens and flipped it himself.

also, congrats and good choice... it is such a great lens... maybe someday ill make the upgrade

I never asked  and I'm broke anyway. Wish I had a credit card instead of debit.
