Dear Santa,

I have been a very good boy this year. I know your elves are hard at work trying to pump out all the gifts they can, so I will not belabor you with a request to bring me something tangible this year as I know there are others that are more in need than I am.

This year, all I ask is that you bring me information on when your elves will have completed their work on the 24-70 f/2.8L IS MKII so that it will be available to the masses. You see Santa, I have been torn between the lighter 17-55 lens and the more durable 24-70 lens all year. I wanted to put both on my Christmas wishlist, but I know that would come off as me being greedy. Since I am not greedy, all I am asking for is some insight...which costs nothing.

If you find it in your heart to do so, can you please leave me a note under my tree with the definitive date of when the new 24-70 will be made available by your elves? I will love you forever if you bring me that little bit of insight, Santa!

The cookies and milk are on the table. Oh, and keep your hands off my lady...that whole sliding down her chimney and filling her stocking full of joy last year wasn't cool.

Love,
me

Dear "heathalvarez",

It will be a VERY long time before the 24-70 f/2.8L IS Mk II is available because Canon still hasn't made a 24-70 f/2.8L IS Mk I. (if you add IS to the 24-70, it will be the first version of a 24-70 IS)

Santa ;)

Dear Heath,

Santa is usually good at prompt responses. Well, you haven't been NEARLY as good as you say, as Santa KNOWS who has been naughty and who has been nice. Probably the fact that in delivering presents to high-level CIA employees, they have passed along information I found to be quite useful about your behaviour over the past year.

Oh, I'm quite used to people listing multiple items on their lists. After all, even the elves get confused at times, and then even Santa has to deal with backorders from the elf factory. I don't call that greedy, just proper planning.

I have your request list up on my screen now, and am on hold with Canon. When they asked me my name and I responded, I could hear laughing in the background, so I guess they are having a pre-holiday party. I've only been on hold for 17 hours, but they are playing holiday music to soothe my psyche.

Since Santa knows all, that was your girlfriend I encountered last year. Your wife was still sleeping soundly!

See you Christmas Eve! (And tell your girlfriend the chimney isn't the best place to hide).

Regards,

Santa

PS. Last years cookies were stale, and I'm lactose intolerant. I bring you presents and you give me stale cookies? What's up with that?
