First macro pano

Well my 4-way focus rails came today (I'll try and get a little review up soon) and apart from easier focussing I was also looking forward to the ability to shift left and right for easier composition. Then it dawned on me, I can use it to make panoramas just like you can by shifting a T/S lens left and right.

Worked pretty well.
Would suspect you would get some distortion when using a fixed camera like this with a TS lens. when I do these I simply used a normal lens and move the whole camera sideways for the overlapping shots.

When using a T/S lens for panos, if you just shift the lens left and right you'll get some minor parralax error, nothing too noticeable unless you're shooting stuff up close, but if you move the body in the opposite direction to the lens (and the same distance) it all goes away). So, not only do these rails come in handy for macro work but they'll also allow me to get flawless T/S panos.

Have you noticed any distortion when combining the shots, and if so how did you deal with it? I use Microsoft ICE for most of my panos but in this case it couldn't quite straighten it out no matter what mode I used, so I just overlaid the images in Photoshop instead.

Haha, yeah it's so bad that it's noticeable at such low resolutions. I usually just clone it all out but it get's a bit tedious, hopefully I'll be able to get some cleaning supplies later on today.
