We just returned from New Zealand. Such an absolutely beautiful place. Here are some pictures from our visit.

Tongariro Crossing - 19.4km hike up to the red crater and down the other side - this is the view after getting to the top and leaving

Very Interesting ...
I would like to do same.
That pic on crater crossing is nice - would be great if people dressed as nomads.
How did you book trip ??
Any tips on traveling, staying, eating, beer to drink ??

My advice would be to stay as long as possible! We went for 2 1/2 weeks only and there was just still so much we could have done. I would also recommend trying to make it to both islands. They both offer wonderfully different experiences from the Tongariro Crossing and the thermal activity in Rotorua to the incredible Southern Alps on the South Island. I am in Ontario, Canada, so it took us about 20+ hours of travel each way to get there. It's pretty exhausting. The highlight for me was definitely the crossing, but it's not for everyone. It took us 7.5 hours to walk 19.4km with about 750 metres of ascent. We booked our trip entirely on our own one thing at a time. We slept in a tent the whole time. November was an AMAZING time to go! It was right before busy season and the weather and temps were perfect. I have never seen so many camper vans in my entire life! It really is a place to put on the "MUST DO" list!

Wow, slept in a tent the whole time. That is definitely an experience for the outdoorsman.
Great shots as well. Did you bring a laptop? How did you store your photos?

just a few of my thoughts...

Excellent series. Pic #2 reminds me of WW1 solders heading out for battle with smoke screen.

It was amazing. In Mount Cook we slept right near Mt Sefton and could hear the avalanches all night. It was unreal. In terms of storing pics, no room for a laptop, so I just took multiple memory cards with me.

Beautiful pics. You've seen more of N.Z. than I have and I grew up there too.
