I've been in the market for one of these, and ran across an auction (external link) for one, new, that is less than 10 dollars shipped. What are the chances that these are real?

I think they are real, and that's how much they should be from the beginning :)

I got mine off ebay from an auction like that.

If it's fake, I can't tell. Been using it on my 7d for almost a year now.

More than likely it is a knock-off. The seller ships from Hong Kong. However, most of the knock-off accesories I have purchased worked out just fine.

Canon 40D and more lenses than my wife knows about...

I got one and can't tell if it's real or not. All I can say is that it works beautifully.

I had those on both my cameras and they are good. On my old 1d mkii, I had the Canon OEM one and I couldn't tell the difference.
