I sent in my 5DMKII recently to have the sensor cleaned and focusing screen cleaned, and it came back with still a few lint specks on the focusing screen and, in the middle of a shoot popped out. I had to use my finger tips at the time to get it back in, I had no tools with me, and I think it got dirty again. Guess I'll be contacting CPS to have a new one put in again, and hopefully won't have to use my 2nd cleaning voucher.

Bummer. I've been pretty happy with the cleanings I've had them perform.

Yeah, I wasn't total unhappy. There is that one last speck they didn't clean, which is in the center part of the focus screen, that main circle. Then the other must have just been a very rare instance for it to pop out. I'm not mad at them, its a little frustrating to have to send it in again, but over all I'm happy with them.

This gives me a good excuse to get a 2nd body or a high end camcorder :)

I'm not 100% sure that camcorders are on the eligibility list. I'm thinking not, but not being a high-end camcorder user, I may not have paid attention.

I was curious as to what the "platinum member gift" was...

Probably isn't worth the $500 fee

I've seen people selling CPS monopod pads, thinktank dslr backpacks with the CPS logo, etc. I'm guessing those are the types of extras you get with the Platinum membership.

I'm fine with the gold membership perks.

Daytona - Thank you for the article. Thinking of joining at the gold level. Am I correct in assuming that it dosen't matter if you have purchased some of your gear used as long as you can provide the serial numbers?

Thanks bigcountry. I figured those items I've seen floating around for sale were probably the platinum gifts.

I take it you find value in the $500 fee as opposed to most rest of us that think gold membership is just fine? :-)

the non "CPS" versions of those two Thinktank bags retail for $250 and $150 each, so I guess if you are in the market for that type of bag and accessories it's just icing on the cake of the platinum membership in addition to that massive 60% off repair cost and 6 clean/check vouchers.
