Here's some of my shots from today out at the base.

Excuse the dodgy watermark, i have had some issues lately with people pinching my photos for their own, so if you wish to see them watermarkless, have a look here - http://peuty.redbubble.com/ (external link)

Here we go....

And finally, the precise moment of Australia no longer having a genuine Mach 2.5 strike bomber....very sad indeed.

yes a very sad day, & they should not have had any hornets anywhere in the airspace while the pigs were up!

funny how they had to sortie 2 waves of the replacement aircraft to cover the time that the pigs were up

and great photos, well done.

Phil

Haha totally agree. It was amazing how insignificant the Hornets looked and sounded when flying with the Pig.

A very sad day indeed, but I feel very proud to have been there on their final day.

I was in the Herc doing circuits while the fireworks were going off, looked great from the air!

Great photo's, sad to see them go.

I remember photographing the 'fuel dump' flare of the F-111 20+ years ago at Ohakea when I was knee high to a grasshopper:D!

Sorry, but in the "Share" areas IMAGE POSTING RULES only allow 2 attachments by the OP per thread, OR 8 embedded (linked) images, OR a combination of both totaling 8 per thread. (Maximum 1024 pixels on any side.) You can always just post a link to more, though, or better yet, post a link to a gallery so we don't have to click on each image link.
Some exceptions are group threads, like "Show Me...", "Post your best...", equipment reviews, Tutorials, etc.
You may add a few additional photos if requested, but only in a reply to other member's post and request.

I used to love seeing these scream off the runway back when I was with the Army and we'd be doing Vital Asset Protection. We'd be a couple of K's out from the end of the runway and get to see these things climb in to the sky. Sweet.

Very sad to see them go, thank you for sharing.
