yes a very sad day, & they should not have had any hornets anywhere in the airspace while the pigs were up!

funny how they had to sortie 2 waves of the replacement aircraft to cover the time that the pigs were up

Haha totally agree. It was amazing how insignificant the Hornets looked and sounded when flying with the Pig.

I was in the Herc doing circuits while the fireworks were going off, looked great from the air!

I remember photographing the 'fuel dump' flare of the F-111 20+ years ago at Ohakea when I was knee high to a grasshopper!

Sorry, but in the "Share" areas IMAGE POSTING RULES only allow 2 attachments by the OP per thread, OR 8 embedded (linked) images, OR a combination of both totaling 8 per thread. (Maximum 1024 pixels on any side.) You can always just post a link to more, though, or better yet, post a link to a gallery so we don't have to click on each image link.

I worked on the "D" model at Cannon AFB from 86 - 92.....will miss this bird.....

Thanks guys, was an incredible day I must admit, very glad to have been able to share it with you all.

I used to love seeing these scream off the runway back when I was with the Army and we'd be doing Vital Asset Protection. We'd be a couple of K's out from the end of the runway and get to see these things climb in to the sky. Sweet.
