I just got my herringbone. Looks great, pretty good quality components, though I also have the markins pictured above. The leather on the Markins is quite a bit softer, the metal pieces and strap are also a touch nicer, and I like the shape better. Both quality options, the markins seems just a small notch better in every category.

Question: I have an ungripped 20D and use an RRS L-bracket that does NOT appear to have a place to insert the lower end of the handgrip. I don't want to replace the L-bracket nor in anyway impede its use on the ballhead. What options do I have or how else would the handgrip attach?

Love it...

Mike-

I see that you have yours installed with the small end towards the bottom of the camera. Is it safe to say that it can be installed either way? I imagine so.

How does this strap compare to the E1 hand strap fitment wise?

Is it bigger or about the same size? Does anyone know?

I can say that this strap is quite a bit larger than the E1 and much better quality, if I must say so myself. I like it alot and I just got it today. I put it on the camera (1Ds Mk III) with the small tapered end towards the top of the body.

Just out of curiosity why would you mount it backwards like that, any advantages ?

I guess I have to be the spokesperson for the "Canon E1 vs. Herringbone" comparison. I've ordered one and will have to find out how large this thing really is.

UPDATE: sorry i didn't see this last page lol

does this fit well on a 50d body?

I had an e-1 for my xs but the body was way too small and it just wouldn't sit right on my hand.

Got mine mounted on T2i with battery grip. The quality is very nice. I am very happy with it. However I thought the strap would cling to my hand a lot more then it does. (perhaps it needs to be bronken in a bit.
The manual is Korean only. The camera no longer zips up in Tamrac 5683 and it used to with original shoulder strap :(

i had the same problem when i had the e-1 on my xs. the strap would rest on my knuckles rather than the back of my hand lol.

If it rests on your knuckles you must have it too tight.

Not really...It's really the same as it being mounted the other way.
Honestly, I don't even know if my way is backwards or if the other way is backwards.

I have 3 now. One for my 10D from a while ago, bought another black one with black stitching for my 7D, but Canon Korea gave me a Chocolate Seduction Limited Edition hand strap and neck strap (like this one http://goods.gmarket.com.sg ….aspx?goodscode=401025900 (external link)) when I bought the 7D last month. :)

After 2 years of use, the strap near the base plate has started to wear, but I guess that's expected.

OK I have played around, swapped to the other version I bought, got rid of the ADAPT-IT altogether, and I'm happier with it. First, some pics:

The metal thing used to connect the neck/shoulder strap to the hand strap is not the one that came with it (like I said, too weak for my liking) but instead one I had lying around that is much stronger. The plate on the bottom is also not the one included - however the one included is in the foreground of pic #3. And for reference the camera is a 7D.

I've also noticed that the included plate has no anti-twist (i.e. not even any rubber). I tried one on the bottom of my 20D and it would twist, it needs a thin piece of rubber in there or something. The strap could also be a bit longer, I have it at about max length to get it comfortable.

I don't mind it like this, I'll leave it on (along with the shoulder strap, I couldn't live without that) and see how it goes.

The Hbone is a great strap as it is and I think the metal loop piece is plenty strong and have used one for years with no issues. As far as the plate goes there is nothing wrong with it mine never twist but over all I think the Hbone is the best hand strap on the market
