I took some test shots with my T1i/500d and my 17-55 lens. I want to make sure that I'm getting the highest IQ possible and that my pics are as sharp as possible. Would you be satisfied with these results? Are these "normal" results? (Not all of the series came out this sharp. This was one of the best.)

ISO 400, 28mm, f6.3, 1/60

Thanks...

you can see that the camera focused on the polen ( the contrast point in the shot) so in that sence it,s sharp.
If you wanted total sharpness a aperture of f 16-20 would give overall sharpness.

Yes, that's where I wanted the focus in this test. I just wanted to know if the image quality & sharpness is what you all would be happy with?

But isn't the focus point on the one behind the one highlighted the loupe?

front focussing maybe?

Yes it DOES seem to be front focusing based on this example. Should I post another example?

Unless you bought the 17-55 to mostly shoot near the MFD, I do not think that testing near the MFD is a great way to assess focus performance in general.

I also generally do not like flowers for test subjects as they lack a lot of high contrast fine detail.

Minimum focus distance. The 17-55 is not a macro lens, so you must have been pretty close to the MFD to frame a flower that tight.

Not quick enough lol, but as mentioned if you were bordering on the mfd images can look soft and only sharp at the mfd which could be the most extreme part of the image

+1 front focusing, I'd check the AF points in DPP just to confirm the Apeture AF point positioning.

The lens is sharp despite the front focusing.
