This cannot happen with the current belt - the holster screws into the back of it. And as was mentioned previously, the band that broke does not hold the holster to the belt. The holster clips over the top of the belt and the band keeps it from sliding. I use this system and I would go so far as to say it's a game changer. I carry a 5D2 with a 70-200 2.8 IS on my hip and I've never been so comfortable out in the field. I love it.

I wear my 1d3, 70-200 f/2.8is w/580exii and that setup is effortless when shooting events. Knowing Shai he'll address the issues in a heart beat.

I've had the Cotton Carrier System for 10 months. I've had no problems with the chest mount, but have noticed the waist holster mount loosening up on more than one occasion, and once my 5D2 and 24-70 dropped to the ground (concrete). With a CPL in place, and no hood as a result, The CPL was history and the camera and lens had to go back to Canon for repair.

I used not to use Loctite. Now I do. I hope it is enough, but my confidence in the product is badly dented. I know that nowadays they supply tethers for safety. Well they didn't back in the days when I bought mine and they haven't troubled themselves to send tethers to all early adopters such as me.

I love my Spider holster - so far. 1Ds Mark III (or 7D with grip) with a 100-400, comfortable as hell for a long walk through the woods! And secure, too.

One thing I will mention - initially installing the holster on the belt is very difficult. I spent a good deal of time trying like the dickens to get those two screws, which go through the belt, to line up with the receiving threaded holes on the holster in order to tighten them down. I practiced surgery for 26 years without much difficulty - but this was a tough case!!

The trick is to squeeze/pinch that holster's retention clip in order to enable the screws to reach their destination and engage, and first you have to "bend" the holster 'paddle' area to see if the screws are aligned properly. Not easy with only two hands.
I think the holster should come pre-attached rather than put the customer through this little mini-hell.
Once done,though, very clever piece of kit as the Brits would put it.

I attached my Spider to the underside of a Really Right Stuff B2 LR II lever clamp so that I can pop it on and off the L-plates of my camera(s). You'll need to get a 3/8"-1/2" adapter to accomodate the hookup.

But not all of us use the holster on the included belt. I attached mine permanently to my Think Tank Speed Demon belt, for instance. I can't comment on how difficult it is to attach to the included belt since I haven't tried that, but it was tricky to attach it to the Speed Demon as I had to make my own two tiny holes first.
