I say wait for the 5D MkIV. I hear its due out in February of 2013, shoots in-camera holographs with little to no noise and 3-D HDR's with Photomatix v. 8. Combined with the 85L .95 MkIII, the results are said to be sublime! (There is a moral in here somewhere).

6D, G9, Sigma 50 1.4, Sigma 15mm Fisheye, Sigma 50 2.8 macro, Nikon 14-24G 2.8, Canon 16-35 2.8 II, Canon 24-105 f/4 IS, Canon 70-200 2.8 IS, tripod, lights, other stuff.

Yeah, I am starting to lean more towards the Mark 3.

How does one lean towards a camera that doesn't even exist yet? How could you know that it's going to be "better" than the Mark II? While you're waiting for it to come out (if it ever does) you're missing a lot of photos...

Due to Canon's release history, and some of the unconfirmed (yes, not reliable) reports floating around the internet, I am assuming (yup assuming) that there will be one out sometime in 2011. With some of the improvements of Canon's other bodies ie. the 7d, I would imagine they would include some of the newer technology in their latest camera. "Better", that's a word that has a different meaning for everyone. To me, a better camera is a camera that has more functions that I use, and help me to produce better quality work. Will the Mark 2 suffice, sure. I have no complaints about my current 5d, other than the ability to micro adjust my lenses, and shoot video, I have no complaints. I am in the market for a second body, that's all. I am not really in a rush, other than the "want" for a new tool sooner rather than later. Will I wait for the Mark IV, X, etc. No! I would realistically like this second body, which again will have to get me through many years to come, before the end of 2011. Just doing some brainstorming, and asking for opinions, that's all. I also don't feel I have missed, nor will miss any potential photos! Videos, maybe, but I do have a seperate video camera if I really want to shoot video.

historically the rumors aren't usually fully accurate until a month before the announcement, the earliest.

educated guesses, at best, although probably safe guesses.

5D3 and a few lens

So after staring at the 85 1.8 box for 2 days now, I finally couldn't resist and slapped it on my trusty 5D. After several shots, I boxed it back up, and it's going back today! It's much much less sharp than my last 1.8, and nowhere close to my liking, and I am not too anal. I am now 95% sure I will be ordering the 85 1.2. I feel as though the 70-200f4is will work just fine for when I need it, other than maybe in an indoor Church, but I can either borrow my buddies 135 or rent at that point. Besides, I rarely use my 70-200 anyway. I love my primes, and like to move my feet. Now for the tough part. Being that I am torn over waiting for the Mark3 or going with the Mark2, I plan to wait until January 7/8th. Right now Canon's rebate will give me $260 off the 85 1.2 if I buy a Mark2. I have pretty much decided that I don't want to spend much over 3k for the Mark3.....so I am just hoping to gather more info before the 8th, although I'm not crossing my fingers.

I say sell off your current 5d, get a 2nd hand 5dmkii and let that be a second body to the "upcoming" 5dmkiii if any.

Brilliant!

Well, my impatience go the best of me....Just ordered the Mark2, 85L, new Thinktank bag, and a filter. Free over night shipping, and a bunch of small accessories for free....Damn, I wish I was more patient....Is it tomorrow yet? I am thinking I will be very happy, and once the Mark 3 is announced or does come out, I may just sell my 5dc and upgrade to the 3 depending on price....At least now I can video Christmas......Now, I am broke!

Yup a whole 3 megapixels more will make a whole host of difference.

just recieved my MK2 a few days ago, it's a cracking camera, beware waiting for a MK III look what they did to the 60D, plastic crappy body and a daft flip out screen, who knows what they might do to the 5D??
