Did you take advantage of Canon's Late 2010 Lens Rebates?

I thought the rebates required you to buy a camera, too. Are there rebates for just buying a lens by itself?

I just picked up an 85mm 1.8 for my daughter's Rebel for Christmas. After playing with it, I'm going to have a hard time giving it to her. Maybe she needs socks instead.

Nevermind, I just looked it up like I should have before posting that. Guess the 85 1.8 doesn't qualify, but I'm still pretty happy with it. The L version had better be a LOT better for me to cough up the difference in price.

I've got the 85mm f/1.8 too, and am quite happy with it. I think when you go with the L, the IQ doesn't improve that drastically, it's kind of like anything, as you get closer and closer to the high-end, things don't improve dramatically, but overall quality is higher. You're paying also for weatherproofing, which, doesn't do a thing, really, for IQ, except maybe prevent dust from getting in the lens...

Of course, to me, I think the difference between f-stops is larger (from 1.8 to 1.2), versus, for say, the 50mm, where it is only f/1.4 to f/1.2. So, in that regards, maybe the lens is worth it's fastness...

I'm a rookie, so take what I said, with a grain of salt (or two)...

It seems Canon USA is so much more generous than elsewhere. There has never been a damn rebate on either the 70-200L II or the 100L Macro in Canada  I do hope they will give one on the 100L before the summer. I just realized that everything I purchased this year had rebates on them :D I am such a cheap bastard :)
