Humph! Over-looked again

Things are good with me mate; busy as, looking forward to a few days off between Christmas & New Year and them back into it.

Somehow I could not picture you sitting around doing nothing...... :)

Hi Cliff, Nice to hear you are having fun on your bike.
I'm looking forward to BMXing again next year.. Shoulder seems pretty good. At least I'm not going to let it mess up my life. (In other words I am postponing the acknowlegment that I might be getting older & will continue doing silly stuff that my kids do.. because I enjoy it).

Cool. I have just got back on the bike after a nasty crash a few months ago. Knocked out for 1 1/2 minutes, broken rib, punctured lung and to top it all off, a staph infection on my left hip (likely picked up from the hospital). Then I started having after effects of the head-knock a few weeks later - which lasted for around two weeks. My worst crash so far - but enjoying being back on the bike again. It's just so much cheaper than racing a car.....

As for photos of late, I have taken some BMX shots and the like, nothing amazing. Currently getting the cash together to get a 7D so that I can do some video work with it too (never thought I'd be buying a 7D for that reason). Have done some video clips lately but can't do any of the artsy stuff I'd like to as the video camera doesn't give me control over things like shutter speed and aperture - and I can't rack focus. (it's just a simple "handy-cam" type camera). Hence the reason I'd like to kill two birds with one stone and get a 7D (video and photos in the one unit seems handy right now).

This may only interest you Pete, but here's a clip from the North Island BMX Champs held in Oct this year - would have been riding if not for my crash - so decided to do some filming instead. Some pretty cool stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=565f85HUrnk (external link)

There's been pretty much no Motorsport stuff for me this year. I _may_ get back into that next season. It's a dead market at the moment and quite simply not worth the time and effort required. NZ's main magazine for motorsport folded earlier this year - not that it ever paid much to anyone anyway. But that thinned an already stupidly small market.

As for the ten stop, I wanted to try that with a few Motorsport ideas, thus far haven't been able to, but now I have a few ideas for BMX in the new year that I'll give it a go with.

Here's a few (rather stock standard 'Cliff' shots if I may say so myself) from the North Island BMX champs. I got a lot of "normal" shots but then started playing with rotated snap zooms and stupidly slow shutter speeds (I bore easily).

I have shot at Hampton Downs twice now, and to be honest I don't think much of the place from a photographer's perspective. There's a few nice places, but once you have those covered there's not really anywhere else to go.

They may have now opened up some other spaces for togs, as it's been close to 8 months or so since I was last there.

Sorry to hear about your crash.. Some might come to the conclusion that BMX is a dangerous sport !!??!!

No risk no fun. Hope you can mentally get back to top form.

Hmm.. I think you broke some rules with the video as I can't see it. I get the message " This video contains content from Sony Music Entertainment. It is not available in your country.
Sorry about that."

Hi Wendy, nice to see you kicking around too. Have a great Christmas and enjoy playing with the 5DII.

I am looking at upgrading next year too. I earnd a couple of thousand euros this year and want to use it for a new camera... but my wife found it and it all disapeared on household spending :(

I have to work this morning, then am off to Austria for Christmas and some skiing.
