eBay lighting continuous kits?

I'm almost about to pull the trigger on one of those eBay softbox studio lighting kits.

Has anyone had experience with them?

I played with one of those and it was woefully underpowered even with all 5 bulbs running. Problem is I was trying to use it as a fill in for a strobe and it just wouldn't cut it. It might work well with video though, I dunno. I guess it just depends on what you are looking to use it for.

I won't be using it with video. I figured it would be cheaper than buying a softbox and external triggers.

You'd pretty much be limited to still life. A vase on a stool, etc. You can't play the shutter speed game with continuous lights, and they're on the weak side, so you're going to be any of the following: high ISO, slow shutter, wide aperture.

I bought one of those cheap kits with everything! It was like £146 for 3 stands, 3 umbrellas, 3 65w daylight energy saving bulbs, blackdrop, 3 muslin sheets (black, white and green) and to be honest, never really used it apart from today...where I only used 1 light:
