Here are a few fairly recent shots with this lens, the first 4 shots were taken in harsh late morning / noon light in October, the last one was taken last week on a frozen canal in bright light.

with Kenko Pro 300 DGX 1.4x TC, 280mm, f4

Nice pictures from this lens everyone. I was wondering how this lens performs in the areas where I need a "FAST" lens to perform. I shoot my daughters gymnastics meets and I need a lens that can stop action with the terrible lighting you find in these gyms. Does anyone here have an example they can show me that would show off the performance capabilities of this lens?

When the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 hits focus, it works very well.

From a T2i, f/2.8, 1/320 and ISO 3200 in the above examples.

The Tamron's light-gathering ability is good. However, the lens does not have the quick or decisive focus (external link) of other 70-200mm f/2.8 models. The Tamron's autofocus is very much hit-or-miss.

The Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 family of lenses has a better autofocus reputation, at double the Tamron's price for the least expensive version. (external link)

(The Tamron lens that generated these images was purchased used, at a discount from a new unit.)

Here is a recent shot - portrait of a guinea pig.

40D, 70-200 @ 1/100, f3.2, ISO 400, 79mm, off camera flash camera right, set on 1/16, large window to camera left. My cloning skills are not great, so I didn't bother attempting it!

lol! Quite possibly, though I think he did it before I started taking his photo!

I think it is a cross between an Abyssinian (rossettes) and a regular type guinea pig - it has two rossette swirls on its back, and a mohican - one side is pure white, the other is brown!

Anybody seen this? I checked my 70-200mm and 10-24mm, and both use 37 as the lens id (the 10-24mm had been to Tamron for repair once before!). Looks like they'll need a trip to Tamron to change the code to 137 to fix the outer cross sensors!
