Because they are the bee's knees

I was smart and bought the expensive one first, so when I buy the 24L, it won't be too bad :lol:

that 24 is a sexy piece, too.

Heh they're both about the same - I decided on the 24 because I use it a bit for video and its more "normal" than the 17 when looking at video, that and the slightly larger aperture at a longer FL means a little more separation, which is fun to play with for miniature and weird effects.

A few friends of mine have said they couldn't live with a fully manual focus lens before - then they tried the focus ring on my TS-E 24 and were amazed. So accurate.

I'm pretty much the same. I don't throw much "away", and it's amazing what you can do with extra "junk"!

Thanks for the response. Now I don't feel so guilty any more. I do have to correct you on one point however. For us commonseurs of collectibles the correct spelling is "junque".. Have a great new year ya'll out there.

For Christmas, my wife surprised me with the Zeiss 30mm f/2.0, I was so pleased with it that I ended up picking up the 50 f/1.4 unit.

I like the look of that one, the Nikkor adds a touch of class to that smooth beast.

I especially like the tape job. Was that an extra-cost option? Does that have to be factory installed? ;)

It's magic tape you're talking about ;) A prototype upgrade from Canon. You see that I have it on the pentaprism hump, and that's because the tape hides the "all seeing eye" which aids in focusing, allowing my 5D to focus better than a 1D
