I have an internal hard drive that can't be read by my desktop tower, an external reader, or 2 different best buys. I know there's got to be a better way to get the information off this drive other than spending a minimum of $250 at Best Buy for them to do it. No matter where I plug the drive it, it just doesn't show up anywhere.

Suggestions?

No sound's? No movement (while touching it)?

If it's clicking, but nothing happens then it's a physical problem with the drive. What I do in this circumstance is to freeze the drive. I wrap it in a napkin and seal it in a Ziploc baggy and leave it in the freezer for 20-30 minutes, then connect it to a computer, boot and then start moving the data off the computer as quickly as I can. This solution usually only works for a few minutes though - if at all. You can do a search on Google for "Freeze hard drive" for more details.

One warning though, this is a final solution with all other avenues already explored and failed.

What model/capacity is the hard drive? Does it fail to register with the computer, or it does but fail to be read?
