AAFES 25% Code - New Year's Day Only

damn, one day too late

Bummer. I was off-line all day on New Year's Day and didn't see this deal until it was too late. I had been watching intently for a 20% coupon code every day since Thanksgiving...and I missed the boat on a 25% deal.

I'm going to upgrade from my 70-200 Mark I to the Mark II, but I will hold out until a deal like this surfaces again.

my friend called the next day and he was able to get the 7D for $1,286...
hopefully there will be another this summer but i'm thinking TG Day...

Also, has anyone ever had to pay customs charges? Finally, the items come with US Warranties, right?

No customs. They only ship to APO/FPO address'. if you put in a foreign address in your order you should probably change it just to avoid cancellation of the order. All the items they sell are US market products with US warranties.

Btw, mine is 'in process'.

AAFES ships to all address not just APO/FPO.

Wow. I owe everyone an apology. I was dead wrong. All details concerning duty charges are listed under 'My Account'. It appears that rates range from 3-6.8%. My order may be subject to 6.7% based on the chart shown in the duty explanation FAQ.

Well don't be so quick to apologize. I researched this pretty extensively (I went through probably 100+ pages of slickdeals and fatwallet and even fredmiranda threads). Despite all the research, I didn't come across a single instance of someone getting charged customs fees. It's weird.

I guess I am going to stop agonizing over every detail and just live; its easy to agonize when you're on TDY away from your family.

I bought a 40D through AAFES a few years ago and wasn't charged a customs fee even though the item shipped from the Japan warehouse.

Don't worry, there is no customs charges on camera equipment at this time. I looked it up in the U.S. Code. (That could change on future revisions of the U.S. Customs Code.) I can also verify becasue I bought my 7D from AAFES this last year and was not charged any customs fees either. Everyone is good-to-go.

I got my status updated saying that it is shipped. anybody else got their email confirmation?

Question: they sent me a tracking number, but didnt say from which company. What do they use to ship? UPS, FEDEX, USPS? BTW I paid for the priority shipping since I need to make sure that I get it before Jan 14, couldnt risk the chance of not getting it.

Couldn't resist the price of the 5D Mark II and received the notification that it shipped as well...tracking number started with the characters RE. I believe is registered mail (USPS).
