based on this picture...

I've been to WDW countless times and have never been able to be in attendance when no one is there. How are you folks getting "park empty" shots? Staying long after hours? Getting there extremely early?

You usually get Extra Magic Hours if you stay at a Disney resort. I live pretty close to Disney, but we did a small 'getaway' for our anniversary.

Thanks, but I think all the good shots are already here, you'll be a bit disappointed with what's left on the fickr page.

Here's a link to the Disney sets on my page, they are set up kind of haphazardly though.

And of course, you are already a contact of mine. I figured as such.

So what part of VA are you moving to??? I'm originally from VA Beach myself.

Yea, we've stayed on property all except one time. I've always taken advantage of the extra magic hours. I've just never seen it so barren... and I've been in various times of the year.
I'll just have to keep trying.

Do you guys ever get asked to leave or anything of the sort, by staying so late?

Me too. I grew up in Lynnhaven, and then moved to the Oceanfront when I was 19, lived there until I moved to Fl in 07. I'll be moving back there in a few months, likely to Chesapeake or Suffolk this time though; my wife is going back to the Portsmouth Naval Hospital and doesn't want to deal with the tunnels and morning rush hour traffic.

I've never been asked to leave, but they do start ushering you towards the front of the park as they slowly close sections down. One thing to remember is that sometimes it simply doesn't work out. I've been in the Magic Kingdom at 1am and the place was still packed butt to nut like a night club.
You just need to be patient. Figure out what you want to shoot and how you want to shoot it, then wait for the best time. Watch for nights when it might rain too, people don't want to be out in the rain. Wed nights are usually good too, people there for long weekends usually show up on Thurs and Fri and leave on Mon or Tues.

We like to park at the Polynesian "for the Luau" to take advantage of the extra magic hours. Unlike the Grand Floridian they never actually check to see if you have reservations.

Something I've been experimenting with; it's not quite right yet but I'm not going to spend any more time on this photo so there.

We make breakfast reservations inside the park before it opens. That is how I get my empy park photos. There are several places within Epcot and the Magic Kingdom and they let you in so you can go to you reservation. Just show up 45 minutes early and wonder around.

Hey, Lynnhaven was right near me. I grew up in the Green Run area...the Green Run near Lynnhaven Pkwy and Holland Rd. Small world (no pun intended). :)

We took the kids down there the end of June. It was hot, but what really sucked was the fact that I had a broken ankle and was in a hard boot, my 11 year old had a sprained MCL and was in a flexible brace and my father-in-law has chronic back pain. Still we had a blast and the kids LOVED it. We're going to go back down for Spring Break next year. Our youngest will be 3 1/2 then. Here are just a few of the hundreds we took. We did the Park Hopper pass and it was well worth the money.

1. Self-explanatory. This was taken w/ the Canon SX120IS.

IMAGE: http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/2589/img0815ef.jpg

2. Here are the kids. It took a while for our youngest one to warm up to the characters, but after a while, she ran up and almost tackled all of them.
IMAGE: http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/4355/img7797q.jpg

3. We did the lunch w/ the characters. Pooh is my wife's favorite character. Sami was blowing Pooh sugars and when he walked by, she leaned in for a real one. I almost didn't get the camera up in time.
IMAGE: http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/6199/img7986e.jpg

4. I got invited to a ball. Ok, it was one of the window displays, but Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney movie.
IMAGE: http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/3919/img7998m.jpg

5. This is from the Lion King Show. If you see only one show at Disney, this is the one!!! It was spectacular. Again, this was the SX120IS.
