I just bought a copy, but after reading all the posts I'm wondering if my copy is sharp.
What do you guys think?

I looked at your pictures of your sweet daugther (?) ... e.g. _MG_9598 ... these look absolutly awesome.

I just ordered a copy from Amazon today. I was torn between the Sigma and the Canon 28mm f1.8, in the end, the 10% off coupon code help me tip the scale in favor of the Sigma, I'm looking forward to getting it, and hope to post some pics up with low light sittings and see what you guys think. :)

I didn't need a 10% off coupon. xD
This convinced me.

OK ... mine is going back to the shop tomorrow. It has about 1.5cm frontfocus. I guess, this was my last try with Sigma :-( Damn. Looked like a really great lens, but I'm fed up with Sigma's "quality check".

I just sent back my copy to the shop after 1 month i had tried and get a 1 to 1 exchange.

The reason i sent back was due to the image are not consistence sharp. (sometimes soft). Do you all facing the issue not all pictures taken were sharp ?

Maybe 60% are sharp. How about your rate?

my first copy i was experiencing that, even after using the lens align. i have yet to try and test my replacement thoroughly but so far the couple i've taken seems much sharper.

Mine has always been great. I don't have MA ability on my XTi (400D), Guess I got lucky

But this is really sad, isn't it? Why doesn't Sigma get this fixed? Why do they build so many faulty lenses? I guess, I try the good old Canon 50 1.4 instead (or stay with my nifry fifty)

Got mine last night. Still trying to convince myself it's as sharp wide open as the other samples I've been seeing in here. I'll give it the weekend. It's definitely front focusing unless I MA -1 or -2 depending on subject distance. Anything more than 30 feet away is soft regardless but I guess that's to be expected at 1.4

Looks pretty good to me. I made exactly the same kind of post on here when I first got mine. I've just got on and used the lens and I think it's great now :)
