Went out in the wee hours of the morning and tried some night shots. I live in a fairly small town, so there's really nothing impressive to shoot. I decided to shoot our main street, as the more heavily trafficked thoroughfare, is considerably less attractive.

Anyway, here's downtown starkville at 4:00 a.m.

I wasn't terribly impressed by the shots/composition, but this is my first try at nightscapes.

Nice shot gepixelt. That's razor sharp, especially around the eyes.
I told you that lens was sharp!
High ISO too.

yeah ... you've been absolutely right. It's sharp - even at 1.4. I'm really happy with this lens now. Focus was on the right eye

Hi. My name is Dirk and you can find me on flickr (external link).

Your shots of wildlife, especially deer, are amazing. Thanks for sharing.

Nice buck!

I've spent hundreds of hours in and around Starved Rock.

Both are quite nice. The only thing I'd add is in the second one the composition is too centered. If you cropped out the empty space to her left it should fit the rule of thirds about perfectly.

So many good pictures being posted, it's hard to keep track!!

I'm playing with insomnia tonight, and got a little bored, so I decided to take a couple of pictures of the new pony in my stable.

2008 Gibson Les Paul studio AAA flamed maple in natural finish.

Hello wolfy317
I don't know if you remember all of the positive comments from your Studio pictures? Anyhow, I did say I was going to post my version, so I hope you are still looking through the threads. It is still hard to get over the finish of your Studio! Awesome finish to say the least.

This is a 92 model, and it has been played quite a bit, so it's scratched up.

Actually Wolfy, I really like those shots. Maybe it's because I've always lived in a city and now live in a city with more than 10,000,000 people and never get to see empty streets even at 4am.

I'm looking for harsh criticism of my photos - tell me how to improve, I will be grateful.

Not the most interesting shot in the world, but I caught the International Space Station flying overhead this evening.

Hey Marubozo,

Was that a 30 second exposure?

That was 25 seconds at ISO 100 and f/4.

I'm not able to access my computer with Lightroom at the moment, but I'll go back to it and clean up the noise and do some tweaks to get the stars to pop a bit more.
