I like it, but I'd clone out that bird in the middle, and perhaps a bit more of the water.

My first reaction was no, the gull adds to the atmosphere, but when you look at it, it almost seems to be a giant bird stuck on the spire of one of the buildings. I think kaptnkain is right. :)

In any other place it would be nice, but in that particular spot it looks like part of the skyline almost, it draws your attention.

You could also clone the bird to a new location and then erase the original.

Thank you all for your comments :). Didn't even notice that bird in the middle until you guys pointed it out. I even cloned out the bird on the right hand side of the image. i didn't include more of the water, because i don't remember where i put the original image, however, i'll keep that in mind the next time i do something similar :)

thoughts on the edited version?

You can always clone the bird to a different location. I just tried it...and in fact, made a copy and made a second gull nearby the new location.

This was taken in the afternoon. Morning would be better so the sides of the buildings facing us would be better lit.

Taken from Alcatraz?

This was actually taken from one of those tour ships while cruising near Alcatraz. I think I took this pic at around.... 4:00pm-ish. Unfortunately, i'm not in San Francisco anymore, but I do intend to come back sometime in the near future. I love the city :)
