^^David, back-up! You are way too close, you're chopping the top of the flame! There's a lot of other things you should look out for but naming them all would discourage you. Simply start by backing off, like way off. Let the match and flame be a portion of your picture, not the entire picture.

But keep trying, you're getting better

That's great advice and I like criticism so don't worry about it. I'm a big critic, so I understand a little more than the average person.

BTW- I'm trying to do a macro-shot, and trying to keep up with someone who does it extremely well. This is a very hard shot to do. If anyone else wants to take the challenge, you know what to do.

Now go find a Sony thread to chat on!

Or what? Release the hounds? Or the bees? Or the hounds with bees in their mouth and when they bark they shoot bees at you?

Here's a few pictures I took today - My 365 Project photo is not below but rather in my Photoblog Day 8 - Mok Dong Ice Rink (external link)

I found this sculpture interesting because the man is wearing pants but the woman is naked.

Wow. Seriously, this 70-200mm is ridiculous! I haven't really had time to play with it today, but I just went out and took a few shots and my mind is officially blown.

I have nothing to shoot at this time of night really so I decided to just shoot the house on the other side of the farm field. Man, this thing is sharp. The house is a little over a quarter mile away.

I'd still hit that. On the statue. Skirt or not.

The house is an epic shot. I love the pics taken where you get home and you're like this shot is PIMP once put on the computer.

I am blown away that I can get an acceptable photo at ISO 3200, let alone a quality one. This looks better than 800 from my XT. Even 6400 produces print-quality results with a little NR, which blows my mind.

I didn't have it on for this one. In fact, I haven't even attached it to my camera yet. I just looked through it to make sure the glass was in good condition. Maybe in daylight tomorrow I can see what it can do.

As my Spanish teach in HS said many years ago. If you convey an understanding, that's all that matters. You see my point.

I sure understand your second statement but isn't the first one a bit...hum.... un-appropriated for an open to all photography forum?
