A bit of belated holiday cheer for everyone...seen in Rockefeller Center, NYC. I liked how the lights in the background played well with the lit up fountain and ornaments...and I love the effect the slightly longer exposure had on the water in the fountain. Shortly after this shot I was accosted by the "tripod police," but certainly worth the effort I think - hopefully you agree!

Feedback, comments & advice very much appreciated.

Tripods aren't allowed for sidewalk photography?
I thought that was just in public buildings and transit systems that the tripods weren't allowed?

Apparently not in Rockefeller Center...basically considered a terrorist if you stroll around and try to take shots using one. "Sir - you can take pictures, just not with that tripod."

Moral of the story - say thank you and that you appreciate it, while still continuing to snap pictures if possible. Have to say though - major cities in the U.S. are the only places I've ever been (domestically & internationally) that have such a major issue with them.

I ran into the same problem at the Washington Monument in DC last month. I think the issue is not so much terrorism as it is considered a tripping hazard for others. They told me it couldnt be inside the flag circle around the moument. So I moved it to within inches of the other side of the circle. They watched me for a transgression all the time I was there.

The stupid thing about my experience is that besides me and two guards, there were only 3 other people there at the time. A rule is a rule ...

BTW, that is a very nice shot.
