As promised.. Here's a shot of the setup (click for larger)

And a closer view of the lens press fitted in the adapter which in turn screws onto an FD to 52mm reverse adapter:

Mine just arrived and just holding it to my eye I can see why its so good, so thanks for finding that - I've also added it as a favourite on flickr.

Now I'm looking for a little help - I have the 100mm macro and would love to attach this to the front - the 100mm is 58mm.

From a quick look on ebay I can get the 30.5 to 52 mm step up adapter you mentioned, but I don't really get the step up step down bit, so could you advise?

Thanks again.

Hmm flickr sometimes messes up with it's image security settings. All the images in the post are set to private (to prevent clutter in my flickr stream because I only use them as support images anyway) but for some reason some of them link fine while others don't.. I'll look into it.

Edit: should be fixed now. It wasn't flickr of course, it was just my mistake ;)

The 30.5 to 52mm has a female thread on the 52mm end. This means you need to find a way to go from 58mm to 52mm. Both should be male (the 58mm end screws in your lens end and the other is needed to screw the 30.5 to 52mm onto). A reveral adapter 58 -> 52 mm should do the trick, like this one (external link) for instance.

Here's a shot of how I have it sitting (the bottom ring in my case is an Canon FD to 52mm reverse adapter):

Mine arrived yesterday. 2 weeks delivery time to the UK. Can't wait to get my stepping ring from China to try it out. My PTFE tape is ready and waiting...
