This is day 13

This is Xiang. She is applying for the Got Milk? scholarship and so she needed some shots for that. We ended up just testing different methods of creating the milk mustache and then calling it a night. We are going to a track to shoot the actual photo tomorrow so I am just putting a shot up for my 365

This is day 14

Got out and shot with Xiang for her scholarship application. It is for the Got Milk? scholarship for exceptional student athletes. She is a long distance runner. Anyways, we were out shooting for ten or so minutes and the stupid stadium lights turned off so I ended up having to comp the lights into another shot. I'm pretty stoked on how it came out and I am definitely going to start using this technique a lot more often.

I like them both actually, but I think # 2 you would more likely see in a commercial. What was the milk mustache made out of out of curiosity?

We used face paint with a little bit of vanilla ice cream on top. That way, we were really able to bring out the white while still creating the glossy, textured feel that you would assume a milk mustache to look like.

First I didnt read at all but checked the images. When I saw second shot I knew that she is not a sprinter. Look how her knees turn inwards. That is not the most efficient way to start running as it fights against human anatomy. Also her elbows are over extended. If you shot her in the stadium why didnt you put her on track? IMO would work better or at least give you few different looks.
When working with athletes its good to let them do what they do best. With this I mean dont ask them to pay too much attention on camera. Just show what kind of pose you want and let them do it. When the pose looks good, just take a shot. Lighting is ok but the pose is bit off for a athlete shot.
Hope this makes sense =)
