Who's the winner at 200mm 2.8 between 200L 2.8 and 70-200L II?

200 2.0 L? :p

Now seriously, I think they will be very similar (to my eyes)

hahaha I too thought he had dirt on the new version of this lens. I borrowed a friends 200mm L and it is now on my wish list. Super easy to get into sporting events where they say "no pro lenses." If you show up with a big white body 70-200 2.8 IS II, your gonna have to walk back & leave it in the car. Their rule is usually nothing longer than a dollar bill, which this fits. You get the compact size, range, and image quality of an L! Enjoy your copy!

Both seem to be equal in sharpness and contrast but I think the bokeh on the 200/2.8 is less busy and thus better.

It should be noted that when shooting handheld, low shutter speed, the IS really kicks into the equation and makes the zoom the indiscussed winner. The IS in the 70-200 II is so good.

That and the 70-200 II is already sharp enough at 200 to give the prime a run for its money...
