Instead of starting a new thread everytime, I'll just keep updating this as I go and my photo experience improves.

Layla is nearly 3 months old today. She's getting good leg strength so I tried to put her in the plaything (I have no idea what the correct term for this is). Unfortunately, she's just too short to enjoy the toys. Bummer. But, she looked so cute in it, I had to take a couple pictures before snatching her up out of it.
She definitely has her momma's eyelashes and eyes.

The first photo seems a bit underexposed, even the second one seems a bit dark. Also don't forget to always focus on the eyes and ensure they're tack sharp, they seem a bit soft. Otherwise cute baby though.

Adorable baby!

Mine is 5 months old now, but when she was small and we wanted to use the exersaucer I would put a towel in there to boost her up to reach the toys, and some old college textbooks under her feet because you don't want them to dangle (bad for hips & spine). Hope that helps!

What a sweetie, look at those lashes, OMG. :-) Yep, try to aim the focus for the eyes, and if you are counting on your central focus point, that works, but then your subject's face will always be slightly below centre in the photo and you're always cropping to get the composition right. What camera are you using (I tried checking the EXIF but can't see any)? If you can, try to choose an AF point just above centre. I'm just learning, myself, but I found it helps a lot with portraits and action shots alike. Landscape would be opposite, but that's another story... haha

I'm using the canon t2i with an 550ex flash mounted on top. I used a 50 1.8 prime for these particular pictures.

Good tip on keeping the eyes above center.

My little lady is 3 months old today... time is passing by quickly!
I played around with DOF, focusing on her eyes, and putting her eyes above center horizontal... C&C welcome:

always welcoming comments/suggestions/advice on how I can get better shots. I feel like the above comments really helped me out, so I'm happy to take on more C/C.

just bumping this for some C&C...

FWIW, I'm not doing any post processing just yet. Still trying to get the camera's LCD screen to mimic the computer's screen. Bad part is, I don't know what you guys are seeing in regards to how your monitors are set up. What I'm seeing could be quite different from what you're seeing. Thus, the need for specifics.

Thanks in advance.

Got my remote trigger in last night and tried it out. Got some funny photos of my little girl while she was focusing on me instead of the camera (hey, what's that big black thing Daddy keeps putting in front of his face?).
Over exposed, but still funny...
