These are brillient...i'm considering getting this lens in the near future, though i've read so many mixed feelings about this being tack sharp and also being very un-sharp which would probably be down to poor copies?

I would definitely recommend you getting one, I've been so happy with the quality mine rarely leaves my camera, when you nail the shot it is tack sharp, sweet spot is around f.8, although it's pretty damn impressive throughout the range.

I absolutely love mine, and it is quite impressive throughout the range. Even at F4 it's nice and sharp, and the color it produces is quite brilliant.
