FWIW, just received my 7D from the loyalty program. (Traded in an AE-1 I received as a high school graduation present--kinda sad I suppose. Then again, whoever thought I could get $200 of value out of that reliable old classic!) Anyway, the 7D looks brand new--not a scratch or mark anywhere. First shot was numbered 01-0001.
The battery, however, had been used. Slight marks and blemishes on the underside--which I only noticed after opening a new battery alongside it. The camera reports the battery as being "fully rechargeable", or whatever.
Just finished reading the manual--Wow!
With the money I saved, I went ahead and bought a Zeikos grip (works great!), a 32gb 400x CF card (Transend), and a UDMA reader from Lexar. Let the fun begin.
Also FWIW, I bought this because my venerable 40D has 90,000 clicks and folks are starting to pay me for may services. That 40D will be a great backup or second camera for an assistant.

Man, that part about trading your AE-1 for it makes me a little sad inside. haha

Though, getting $200 for it is pretty sweet.

I thought people on here had said they didn't have any luck trading 35mm bodies though.

I got a refurb 7D last week as well (From Adorama, not CLP though) and It's in immaculate condition. I can't find anywhere spots on it. The file number did read in the 400x range though... which seemed interesting for how untouched everything looks.

No problem trading in 35mm bodies--I traded in two of them for 2 5d2s

Dang.. that is good to know. It's a shame they don't take Nikon 35mm bodies, too. I have a couple of those that I don't put to much use anymore.

That would make even more sense, to show that you're migrating to Canon.

5D & 7D (both gripped), 24-105L, 100-400L, 15-85, 50 f1.8, Tamron 28-75, Sigma 12-24, G10, EX-Z55 & U/W housing, A1+10 lenses, tripods, lighting gear, etc. etc.

woudn't make more sense to me...the program is called "Loyalty Program"...if you have Nikon, you haven't shown loyalty to Canon...but i agree with the concept - if they had a "trade in a competitor and get a discount" program, that'd make more sense for Canon...

The CLP program is pretty daft anyway. I already own three high-end Canon cameras and want another through CLP, but I have to send in a broken Canon camera. Why not just prove I am already a Canon owner?

Read the words - Canon Loyalty Program. Loyalty is sticking with the brand. Assuming language is meant to mean something.

I'm pretty happy with the program. Got the body I wanted at a good discount so no complaints here.

I purchased the 7D so I could get a side-by-side comparison with my T2i. LOTS of people argue: "Just get the T2i, it's basically the same body besides the exterior, AND it's cheaper!" Granted, they're similar bodies, but I don't think those people really consider the exterior. I didn't think the exterior specs (weather proofing, weight, build material, etc.) would be very different. I only knew the T2i, XSi, and 300D, which in my mind, were built pretty well until I got the 7D. I honestly think that anyone that's on the fence should take a look at the 7D in person and not listen to reviews about people who haven't owned it. It's worth the extra few hundred for me. Just little things like getting in and out of my menus faster makes working with it a pleasure. I have average-sized hands, but love the size. I don't feel like I'd drop the camera. I don't use a neck strap because I mount to sliders a lot, so being able to grab the camera without second guessing is always nice.

When I was debating whether or not to upgrade to a 7D from a T2i, there weren't that many unbiased reviews. Most were pure image/video quality comparisons followed by, "They're the same camera, just get the cheaper one."

I would have been 100% willing to return the 7D if there weren't enough differences from the T2i. That wasn't the case for me. I hope this helps someone out there!
