Another portrait

I took this pic today and I'm in need of some feedback. Bring it on please...
I know the background is distracting but there's a lot more to improve on I'm sure. Thanks in advance.

Her eyes look weird(soft). Also, catch lighting is center on her eyes, not good. You pp with over sharpening right?

The eyes are blue, but not where one expect them to be blue... then again it could be the crap monitor im on at the moment.

I must be real tired cause her eyes are really not right...lol. Thank you guys for pointing that out.
Crocodile thanks for your input and you are completely right, the light is reflecting in her eyes giving the blue appearance....man portraits are so damn hard...

Yes. I don't care for the whites of the eyes being blue either. Great catch of the expression however. Always the challenge.

A small point but when doing this pose note the double chin on her left. Just have her raise her head a bit and it will disappear.

I like it. The only thing I see is it looks like you focused on her teeth instead of her eyes. I also like it better in color.

you can remove the catch light in ps and add new ones, also use your flash pointing to a wall or something, you will get great catch light in the eyes.

I like the expression, she seems like she has taken pictures before, some people naturally smile with there eyes but many dont, so the fact that her eyes are nice and open is a big plus. I kinda like the way the hair is placed, she has a nice neck line so that was good to show off. Its a bit under exposed in the lower half but until you learn lighting thats not something that can be done on camera and looks bad in PS... for the most part atleast. Keep up the good work.

The sharp is very strong, highlighting things that normally wouldn't be so crisp.

Thank you guys for your input. I do have to admit I do not know anything about lighting (clearly demonstrated that) and I see what you mean by the sharpness/crispiness of certain areas.

Oh i forgot to mention. I just started reading a book. I cant say much about it either way cause im not to far in. However it has good reviews and a Flickr following (not sure what that means...) anyways, Its called Light: science and Magic 3rd Ed. By Fil Hunter. Its suppose to be solid. You may want to check it out. Since Photography literally means writing with light... light is kind of a big deal.

The sharpening doesn't bother me as much as the color being so far off. I would suspect white balance. At any rate, the whites of they eyes should not be blue.
