Year ago today? I had....a cell phone camera. :)

In July '10 I bought a Nikon D40 w/ kit lens
- Nikon Nikkor 35mm 1.8 Prime and my love of photography took off.

Now - not much, thanks to major back surgery and being out of work for 3 months
-Canon 30D Gripped
-Sigma 24-135mm (for sale)
-Canon 50mm 1.8
-Canon 70-200 f/4 L non-IS
-Canon 430EX II
-RF-602's
-Wescott Umbrella
-Tripod

New gear won't improve your pictures much, but the execution of knowledge will. So - I've been gaining knowledge the most.

In the past year, I've upgraded from a 40D to a 7D, and added a 100-400L, a Canon 28mm f/1.8, and an Induro CF monopod. Everything else in my signature is the same, and I also have a CF tripod.

The difference between good and bad photographers is: Good photographers don't show their bad photos.

A year ago I had nothing, all my equipment was stolen from my car and I lost all interest in photography since I could not even hope to afford to replace it even though it was just a 350D and some cheap glass.

Now, I have a 20D body and have been saving to make my first lens purchase next week. Needless to say I'm ecstatic .

A year ago I only had...

My 5D2 body.

Last year, I sold my 35L, 85L, and 135L to help fund an engagement ring. That all went to Hell in a handbasket when the gf ended our 5 year relationship :( . So, as a way to help get over her, I bought the 24-105, 35L and 85L this past Summer/Fall :D

The breakup sucked, and being able to go out and shoot pics was probably the one thing that helped me get through the rough times.

wow man that's a tough gig! I'm sorry that happened to you. Just gotta move on and move forward! Enjoy your new glass. Anytime you doubt, just look at that 85L and say "This is the only ring I'll ever need" haha!
