Just got mine back, focusing is much smoother and quieter and more accurate. Will be taking it out for a real world test today.

No option for user error? I thought mine was crap right out of the box, until I figured out that it was my fault.

I tried 3, only one was good. Tried them on 50D and 7D bodies.

I wish I could get this in Canada at a rate similar to the US price. I'd order from amazon.com but the warranty doesn't apply to servicing on Canada and of I get a bad copy I'll have added trips back to the us for returns etc...

I suppose the pricing is Ok in Canada when you consider the 10 year warranty.....
I'm going to have to try this lens....

Thanks for the poll.

Thanks for the poll.

I struggled with this choice for a while, ended up whittling the Canadian dealer down as much as I could, and resolved myself with the 10 year warranty. I've been absolutely happy with the lens, so that helps. If I had a bunch of problems with it, it might be a different story.

This poll should have an option about those that MA'd the lens, as I did. I didn't return it, and I didn't send it in for recalibration, I simply calibrated it myself. It was a +4 on my camera, and I now consider it awesome.

Wonderful lens...when manually focused. Once again, a Sigma I buy with bad back focus. This was the last-straw Sigma (so I thought at the time...) and was returned for a refund the following day.

Mine was fine out of the Box.
It took some time to get used to the shallow DOF, so it was ME that needed recalibration.
Now I am very happy with it.

You paid 640 us/cad...

I imagine you mean 640 cdn... Does the warranty transfer on a used sig purchase?

Where in Newfoundland are you located. Such a beautiful place!

+1

my 30mm F1.4, I absolutely love it!!!

I bought mine "used" and learned to use it...
didn't know there was such a thing as "front or back focusing"...
but then I am from the "manual focus" generation... never considered blaming the camera for crap shots

more than what the eye sees - which can be a problem...

640 taxes in is what they go for locally. B&H is still the cheapest way to go. I found one locally for 350. Still haven't received it but its supposed to be sharp.

I'm in St. Johns, which is the provinces capital. It is a beautiful place to live. The photographic opportunities here are endless.
