This is normal for a show dog ( poodle ) over 12 months of age. my baby girl will be cut in Continental cut at 12 months LOL I hate it I wish they could be in the puppy cut if you wanted.

We have to band and wrap the hair so it will grow you need a grow a top knot aka afro like this

there are still some hunting but they are cut in a sporting clip. The hair will get too many burrs and other stuff stuck in the coat.

I think that show cut poodles look riddiculous. And don't let me get started on show crazy people epilating their hairless breeds for dog shows. Poor dogs... Aren't normally cut poodles pretty enough?

Its a continental clip that they exaggerated over the years it was done on the poodles that where hunting dogs. The early clips had more jacket and less topknots, now our topknots are bigger with a smaller jacket. I don't like the clip I rather them be able to be in puppy clip or a tone down CC with no roesttes on the hips. The CC is for show dogs only so if you show that is how your dog will look. My boy is cut the same way and when he is finished I will shave him down. There are other breeds that are cut in weird shapes.

Here are some pictures of older clips dreaded poodles

There are some breeders and exhibitors that are crazy and cruel and some of the stuff I seen I WOULD NEVER do to my own dogs. Not all show people are crazy....... Just a few bad apples just like with everything else in life :)

This is my 4.5 year old miniature parti poodle, Peyton (named for Peyton Manning, since we brought her home the Monday before the Colts won the Super Bowl). She's in desperate need of a grooming at the moment, we usually have her in a sport trim, but this time of year I let her grow out a bit due to the cold weather.
