I think many of us are waiting for an EVIL camera targeted at a more professional audience, which means a good control layout and no space wasted for unnecessary gimmicks.
A viewfinder like the X100's would be perfect for such a camera.
I'm waiting for an EVIL that has an APS sensor (unlike the otherwise attractive E-P series), isn't so big and SLR-ish as to kind of defeat the purpose of having no mirror (the Samsung...it's not really THAT big, but the fact that it looks just like a small SLR is unappealing for some reason), and isn't so small and compact-ish as to feel terrible and look absolutely ridiculous with a lens (the Sony NEX series).
I honestly really like the mild retro quality of the E-Ps (though the X100 is in a league of its own), but the 2x crop is a total dealbreaker. Olympus doesn't make a wideangle prime (the zooms seem unwieldy to me), and to even get as wide as 35mm you'd need a 17mm lens, which don't come all that cheap. And though the crop is slightly appealing to someone who leans more toward telephoto (150mm=300mm? Great), it starts to look a lot less rosy when you realize that none of the AF-capable telephoto lenses have IS, and that handholding such a light system at long FLs is likely to be pretty damn difficult.
O, what a horrible world in which to live!
Edit: OK, so apparently I totally brain-farted as to the existence of the Zuiko 17mm pancake. Please forgive me.
