From what I have read they either work well or they do not, there is no in between. When they work they are really really good but when they are bad they are unusable. I just sent back my 4th copy for inconsistent focusing. Buy it from Amazon.com, return shipping is free. I am going to my local shop to try the 28mm 1.8 and the 35mm f1.4L.

Got mine from B&H last week, was perfect out of the box, also tried one at H and B Digital which was also great, but that was an old finish version.

Bought it from Aden since it had the best price I could find.
Try out the Canon 28mm 1.8. That's also a fantastic lens.

next two taken at f1.4

Bought one a week or so ago brand new from local shop. Returned the next day after testing, unacceptably soft. Nice case, came with hood, nice colors. Too bad. On 7D.

I think I will be keeping my eyes peeled for a used 35L instead. May try another sigma but the shop had only one copy so exchange wasn't possible.

Got mine from Abe's of Maine a few months ago. Sharp as a tack and with a touch of MA it's perfect!

I just received mine a few days ago. Perfect autofocus at f/1.4 with close subjects, and it didn't require any microadjustment at all.

I got one last week from Amazon. I've taken about 400 pictures with it since. I've had no problems with auto focusing at all. The lens has performed flawlessly.
