This. With lower framerate most likely, but otherwise maintain 7D's feature set just with a FF sensor (hopefully with the 5D II sensor's kinks worked out).

I hope they use the 7D focusing system but with interchangeable screens. AFAIK there's no technical reason it can't be done.

I want one! The boss (think better 1/2) gave me the "green light". Comments are any 5D Mark X XX XXX are better than my 40D. I can hardly wait until the 5D Mark III comes out! Anyone have an idea of what kit lens Canon might attach?

Seriously I need to start saving big time!

I haven't heard any news.

It does seem like Canon made some big announcements yesterday, but I didn't see anything on a 5D.

I don't think we'll see an announcement until Canon has a sensor to match Nikon/Sony and a Digic V to go with it.

I've heard march is a possible release date for the new 5D3. Cant quite believe it but I hope they hurry up because I really want to cash in on the bonus of dropping prices of the 5D2 and finally get a full frame camera to accompany my 50D. I refuse to pay high prices for camera bodies and would rather wait it out for the price drop

I'll sell you mine if they'll release it in march I'm kidding but any month this year is possible for 5dIII to come. This is the year. I'll start saving money if I were you.

I can't help but think that the mark 2 prices will hold fairly steady if the mark 3 is a lot more expensive. People (like me) will want the mark 2. It will be in demand.

Of course, that depends on price.

I'm guessing the 5Dmark3 will debut at 2999.

But it's a total guess.

There are many rumours floating around on the web about a possible new version of the 5DII.
If in fact they decide to move ahead and come out with a 5DIII, I think the price is going to depend heavily on the changes made.
I believe the changes made are going to depend on the price point they are going to target.
I cannot see the 5DIII going much higher than say $3000, only because prices of electronics are generally coming down, and a higher price will be detrimental for a large number of sales - and they want to put the pressure on Nikon.

Oh I do hope the mark 2 decreases in price, Im savng but have a way to go
