Some shots from the mogul competition on Jan. 29.

Shot with 7d with 100-400mm and a 40d with 70-200 f2.8. Shot the first round from up on the slope, moving to various positions along the side of the course. Second round I moved to the bottom and focused my shots on the bottom jump.

Nice shots! I really like #3.

Every time I have been at one of the mountains when there was a freestyle competition going on, I couldn't bring myself to hang out and watch for very long.. Watching those rubber-bands come down the hill would always make me antsy to go find a mogul run that was open.

Many years ago, I took a year off from college and moved to Vail.. What a great year!

Is there a hotel at Breckenridge called "The lodge at Lionshead?" I am surprised to see them wearing, what looks like reference to a Vail hotel at a Breckenridge event.

No, that's the lodge at Vail. Lodge at Lionshead is a sponsor. This group has a series of mogul competitions throughout the season at various resorts. I know they have competitions at Vail, Breck, abasin, winter park or one or two others. they have 2 more left at winter park this season. I might try to head up and shoot another one.

I do have a tough time deciding between skiing and photography at times, typically skiing wins, but I am trying to improve my sports shots, so I've been putting more time into it.

I think you've got some pretty good timing, however to me it seems these all may have a bit too much saturation and maybe a bit heavy on sharpening, at least in my opinion- I'm always learning too, but those are my thoughts
