Good deal.

Anyone knows if this Lexar Platinum II 200x is better than Sandisk Extreme III 30MB/s edition? If it is, any idea by what margin?

Don't know about the 16GB version, but I have two of the 8GB Platinum CF cards, and they are way slower than the Sandisk Extreme III's.

I have 2 of these and I would never buy them again, both failed within the first few weeks of using them on a trip to costa rica and I lost the pictures !

I sent an email to lexar support over a week ago and have not heard from them about it !

their pro cards are great (have been using them for years without issue) but I wouldn't use these cards again if they gave them away for free

hm, I got two last time they were on sale. One it still in the package as I haven't taken any big trips and RAWs from my cam. are pretty small, but the other one has been used constantly for 3 month and works fine.

I'm on the "lexar sucks" bandwagon as well. EVERY Lexar memory product I have bought has failed...that is if it even worked out of the package. They have all earned a very special place...in the trash can. and the customer support and warranty... yeah right. HORRIBLE. Wish you guys luck. I'm sticking with Kingston and Sandisk. I'm sure there are folks out there who swear by them and I'm glad they work for you, but all I can do is swear AT them...

I have no issues with my Lexar Platinum II cards. In my experience they are slower than the Extreme III though.

the Platinum IIs are about half the speed of my 8GB Extreme IIIs in my Hyperdrive Space.. even though Lexar claims them to be (up to) 30MB/s.. if they can do 30MB/s, I have yet to see it

Thanks folks. I will pass and just stay with my Sandisk Extreme III then.

BTW, those who experienced failures with the Lexar cards, were the cards (low level) formatted in camera before use?

I got one of these when they went on sale a few months ago for 27.68, and it works fine on my 5d.

Im about to upgrade to a 5dii, anyone wanna chime in if this card is able to keep up with it? Just wanna make sure this card, albeit reportedly slower than the extreme iii, wont be a bottleneck.

Thanks!

I m using kingston 133x 16g cf card and it records video fine on my 7d. I doubt this 200x will have trouble keeping up with video. However the reliability reports of this card scare me, perhaps even worse than some of the cheaper brands.

mine failed in both my 7D and 5DII

I have formatted them in windows / the camera/ ran tests etc and it says no errors but in my camera it will say something about bad memory card randomly and when you take pictures it looks like everything is working fine until you go to review them and they dont write to the card !

maybe I got a bad bunch of them I dunno but I have 2 x 16GB cards that I am going to see if they will give me 8GB pros or even one 16GB pro or something I dont want these things back
