I just got this lens a couple of weeks ago and I'm loving it! Here is a quick snap of one of my cats sitting in front of the computer monitor...

Now here's an interesting example ...I forgot to take my macro lens when I walked the dogs tonight, and I wanted to take some closeups with the aftermath of rain...so I put the two extension tubes I had with me...the small ones...on the back of the 70-200. Took a couple of shots then up popped this fellow on the live view at 10x magnification. So I took a few shots of him. This is one at 100% crop...he wasn't much bigger than the raindrop!
For a general purpose zoom lens at pixel size, I don't think that's bad performance. (Shot at ISO 400.)

Just walking along and saw this guy feeding the gulls.

I quickly focused on his hand and this was the first shot I captured, it was also the best.

I had to edit it a little in cs5 etc, but this lens and the 7d just works.

You'll be late for everything because the light was right and the action was good (magoosmc)

Just ordered this lens, wondering what TC people recommend for it?

See some people love the Canon, some love the Tamron and some get the Kenko. Any differences in features- like AF not working on one or anything?

Finally my lens arrived today but its too late now to play with it. Can't wait.... rattled off a few shot in low light and it looks very sharp in the LCD.

Enough gear for now... need to get out and shoot more.

The 1.4x II works great with the 70-200 f4 is. I'd stay away from the 2x TC's.
