I like my 5dM2, but I don't think I'm in love with it. I'd say I'm far more in love with my 7d. Its the camera I grab and take with me everywhere. I can honestly say I wish I'd waited and got a 1d MkIV instead.

I keep my 7d mistress when I need a quickie, but the 5DII is my sole mate.

but isn't IQ what we really shoot for anyway? buttons and gadgets aside

Yes but there are many things that contribute to achieving that great image quality - like an AF system that works more quickly and accurately and a metering system that is more accurate.

Love mine. Best camera ive ever used. I also use center point so its not an issue. Ive got to hear that beep:lol: and for IQ it dam hard to beat

Seriously, i wish the outer points worked a little better. I like to use them for composition purposes so thats my only gripe on the camera. We are having a great year so i keep trying to convince myself to get a 1DmkiV. But after reading about the low light issues (Hawk i see you ditched your as well) i think im just going to stay put and see what they do with the 1ds. I seriously doubt there will be a 5d3 anytime soon and no way will canon put a 7d af system with 19pts on a 5d full frame body. Unless they discontinue the 1ds, which i dont see happening either, i think the 5d2 is here to stay a while.

Sean agree 100% with you buddy. FPS is overrated;)

I love my 5DII. I think the shutter sounds cool. I wish the outer AF points were further out.

I never had a 1d body, but I'd love to if it made the most sense. BUT.... at double the price?

I am usually very impressed by the results it produces.

For the price and for my needs, it doesn't really have me wanting for more. Yeah, the 5DIII might get a lot of 7D features, but at what additional cost? And will Canon really cannibalize sales of higher-end models?

And as far as AF goes, I have tons of success with Center AF, focus, and then re-compose with focus lock. Yeah, it takes a second longer perhaps, but I feel like I have more control than relying on outer AF points (which I don't use at all). So for me, AF probably would not be the biggest selling point for me in terms of a 5DIII. I would probably be more interested in an electronic level, dual CF card slots, slightly improved VF, lower noise, and more DR. I have no need for more megapixels at this time. 21mpx files are difficult enough to manage on most machines I work on.

Nothing to complain about at all :)

-> and AF - to be honest, I'm happy I haven't got some excessively complicated AF system in it that I need weeks to learn.
And the tasks it's designed for it does very well.

no one has given me any reason not to buy one... Thx guys :)

my sales guy on the other hand says Canon is not done announcing new products, so I'll wait a week or 3. no weddings before then, so I'm still good on the 5Dc :)

You guys know that the AF points pattern, is the same across bodies, right? It's just the viewfinder area is much larger because of the FF sensor, that it makes it seem like the outer points are not as far out, but in deed, they are in the same spot.
