Already have:

16-35/2.8L
TS-E24/3.5L II
50/1.4
70-200/4L IS

Have wondered about 85/1.2, or a Zeiss fast 50, 135/2 or one of the new version long primes recently announced.

16-35LII
24LII
50L
135L

With those 4 I think I've got most covered. If we take the realistic bit out the title then let's add a 200Lf/2.0 to make it 5 :)

I'm saving up for a full frame camera, but will keep my 40D as a backup camera for fast action. My realistic lens collection (in which point I will start spending money on lighting instead) for a 40D and a 5Dmk3:

1.) Tokina 16-28mm f/2.8
2.) 17-55 f/2.8 IS
3.) or Canon 35mm f/1.4L or Sigma 50mm f/1.4
4.) Sigma 85mm f/1.4 (maybe the 135L)
5.) Sigma/Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 (L IS USM II or OS)

Didn't read all 123 pages to see how 'realistic' was operationalized. From what I did see, looks to be kind of a wish list. Here's mine

I had to post another update to my current lineup. I just finished up my prime needs by acquiring the Sigma 85/1.4 a few weeks ago. This is gonna be it for me for a while!

Current:
Canon EOS 7D
Canon EF-S 10-22mm ƒ/3.5-4.5 USM
Sigma 30mm ƒ/1.4 EX DC HSM
Sigma 50mm ƒ/1.4 EX DG HSM
Sigma 85mm ƒ/1.4 EX DG HSM
Canon EF 135mm ƒ/2.0L USM
Canon EF 400mm ƒ/5.6L USM

I'm VERY happy with my current lineup, but here is my wishlist anyway if I decide to take on the upgrade path again in the future.

Wishlist:
Canon EOS 1D Mark IV
Canon EF 35mm ƒ/1.4L II USM
Sigma 50mm ƒ/1.4 EX DG HSM
Sigma 85mm ƒ/1.4 EX DG HSM
Canon EF 70-200mm ƒ/2.8L USM Mark II
Canon EF 400mm ƒ/5.6L USM

I don't plan on investing heavily for some time so I'm relatively happy with my current line up which is:

Sigma 30
Sigma 10 Fisheye

I know, not really a wide range of uses there but for the stuff I currently shoot I get by. In reality I am probably going to pick up a practical zoom in the near future, looking at 24-105.

If I was in a magic world made of money however, 10-22, 35L and 135L would make me a happy camper.

this is my 5 lens collection. I'm not going to get any additional lenses. Just replacements.

IMAGE: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4114/5431775632_8eb6c7e056_b.jpg

if new 24-70 comes out, i will replace the 24-105 with it. if a 14-24L comes out, I will replace the 17-40L. if a 100-400 L II comes out, I might get rid of the 70-200.

Body: 5D Mark IV
Glass: 50mm f/1.8 | 35mm f/1.4L USM | 17-40 f/4.0L USM | 24-70 f/2.8L II USM | 24-105 f/4.0L IS USM | 70-200 f/2.8L II IS USM | 85mm f/1.2L USM | 100mm f/2.8L IS USM
Accessories: 430 EX II, 600 EX, tripods, umbrellas, and other goodies.
