I am very new to photography on this level. I've always had P&S but never a SLR. I'm trying to make the best out of my photography. So constructive criticism is welcome.

The first one looks great... very even lighting.

Focus was missed on the second one... Unless that's just from web compression?

Great smile :)

For being new to the art, your pics look ok. I have a few comments below.

#1 The color is not right between her face and her hand. The hand looks very pale but the color temp on her face looks correct. This could be related to the amount of makup that she has on but either way some correction needs to be made.

I would also crop the bottom of the pic a little unless you need to keep that aspect ratio.

Eyes and teeth could also use a little bit of PP as they look a little yellow.

#2 The composition is nice. The focus as mentioned earlier seems off. The first pic looks sharp so I am not sure that this is due to compression.

Once again the teeth could use a little bit of PP and the sky could use a little bit of tecture (not blown out)

Hope this helps. Just my .02

When you mentioned Sandy Hook I thought you might be posting in the wrong forum lol.

I just got my first pair of glasses that I didn't think I needed. I apologize to anybody in the past year that I said their pictures were out of focus lol.

I think that the crop on number 1 is too tight, she looks squished in there a bit
