Because I own a T2i, I am not being taken seriously as a photographer.

And it's driving me nuts.

Last week, I shot a few bands in the pit. The other photographers laughed when they saw that I was using a Rebel. I overheard one of them saying to another that 'he's an amateur." It really bothered me when I got home. Has anyone else encountered such problem?

People said the same thing about me and my XSi...I take no heed to it though; if they would like better pictures why don't they take it themselves with their own AWESOME camera.

Ya should just ignore it, there's always people who think they're better in some shape or form with their items/status.

There are always going to be immature haters like that no matter what. Just ignore them and don't let those types of situations get to ya and keep shooting away.

It's silly to let it bother you. Let them be retarded and let the photos do the talking. Now you may still be a lousy photographer... but it's not because of your gear. ;)

Well then, they have nothing to worry about. Let your camera do the talking. In some ways it might be a blessing, you wont be seen as a threat. Last week I went to the greyhound races to see a friends dog run. I've been before many times and taken my 400D and the 75-300 kit lens. No one ever said a thing to me about it. Last week I went along with my newish 7D and the white 70-200 and I got bailed up by security within about 5 minutes. They weren't happy with me taking pics.

People who judge a photographer's ability on their camera are foolish. The T2i is plenty capable and in the right hands can achieve EXCELLENT photos. Do as I do with idiots, ignore them.

The thing about photography in a "professional" sense is that you're always going to be judged by the people around you, photographers or non photographers. Its like if you have a 1D Mark IV, 70-200 L, 580ex II, you're pretty much instantly going to give off the "wow" factor of being "professional." Whether it's a hobby or not, that's for the people to find out. For me, in my experience is that the "wow" factor gets people at first glace, not the photos.

BTW I sold my most expensive print today from a shot I took on my T1i not the 5dii :)

Are you an amateur? What distinguishes you from an amateur? I see that in the end of November 2010 you were admitting to being new to photography and since then asked about basic exposure info an amateur would ask.

That's when you constantly bump into them as they're snapping away--just say "oops, I'm such an amateur that I can't avoid hitting you!"

Some people never grow out of the gradeschool mentality. They got their arses bullied in school, so now they're taking it out on you. Next time bring a 600mm with you--that'll show'em!

And that's not grade school mentality?
