... Sony is striking back by announcing that they will be releasing specifications for its E-mount (external link), allowing lens makers to develop third-party lenses for the NEX line of mirrorless cameras and camcorders.

I am occasionally tempted by the NEX lineup, especially since the new m43s cameras arent a huge step up from my EP-1. IMO the most disappointing thing about the NEX system is the lenses available.

Which soon will be less of a problem ;). There are 4 lenses coming this year, with another 3 to be released next year...

(Use a NEX-5 myself by the way.)

This has me really excited! Love my NEX-5 as it is with just the 16mm 2.8 but I've been itching for something new to go with it without the need for any crazy adapters.

This is good news. In fact, Sigma has announced to release a 30mm lens for NEX and m43.
