Getting into my R5GTt with my photo gear and driving through mountainous Athens is one of my favourite ways of spending some leisure time...

comments and critique is always welcome :)

Those are some odd wheels, sticking further out on the face than the lip.

#1 -- ok, you have a white car. Juuuust behind the car in frame, is a big dark spot of the trees. What you have behind the car is a tree trunk or two and then a white sunny area. IMO if you really wanted the car to "pop" you could have moved the car back a meter or two so that what was behind the car was the dark area, or you could have moved yourself further frame left to get the dark area to be the car's background. With black and white, it's all about contrast... so if you want a white car to really stand out, shoot it in front of something dark.

#2 the lighting on the car is great, the frame is just a bit empty. Cropping it tighter all around would help it a bit, IMO, as the top right of your picture is just dark trees. If you could, there is some reflective trash in the trees, parallel to the top of the car, just past the 2nd tree from frame right. I'd "clean up" the forest in post if I were you.

Great shots, they just seem underexposed to me. The white isn't white enough.

Beautiful car though. I don't know why, but I really like those things. I learned to drive on the crappy American version of that thing: the non-turbo Le Car as it's known over here.

I shoot Nikon. What?

I guess you are right... what troubled me was that it was late and the background was getting too dark. I was convinced that I needed more tones of gray and sunny areas in order to place the car in the environment and not just capture it as the single element of the photograph.

Speaking of lighting on the car, do you think that I should also use the CPL filter to remove the reflections on the windows? As far as cropping is concerned there is a guy on my shoulder who keeps pinching me to abide to the rules of thirds. I even have forgotten how to place my subject in the centre. Also I loved the shape of the road and couldn't resist including the whole turn. The need for post processing is something that I am trying to eliminate lately. Being a graphics artist pp is one of my tools of the trade but when it comes to photography I promised myself to do my best prior or even during capture time. Next thing is to lower my clicks and then maybe I will start processing again a little (the basics, not altering the whole thing). With this particular photograph though I did some when I had to crop it with another aspect ratio and found myself adding vignettes and removing some spots like you said... here is the result:

Glad you like it :)
Since you had 7 R11t I am sure you understand why I keep this that minty... and this one is not the only, I also have one of the latest version of the R5GTt ("alain oreille" or "raider") 2 5's for spares and a clio 1.8. Those french spells have lasting effects! Yes I am a member of rtoc but it's been a long time since I last visited the site. I will upload some more to convince you buying one :)

I must admit that the whiteness of the white troubles me a lot. And it gets more difficult if you want reflections on it. At direct sunlight its impossible (for me) to achieve a balanced (in terms of luminosity/esposure) photograph. I also tried some HDR captures to experiment. This specific car has occasionaly made it very hard to expose it correctly without burning the rest of the scene and vice versa. And the colour of the car is not exactly white... it is milky white, beige-white or something. I will upload a close up of a wing and wheel (which is white) to see the difference.

Being an "archaeologist" on matters of automotive design I understand you. It is easier for me to pick cars that I like from the 70's-80's compared to the last 20 years of production. Except some that need a fortune to acquire and maintain of course. If I am not wrong in the US you pay for insurance and annual fees according to the horsepower of the vehicle, isn't it so? Here the fees are mainly in accordance to the cubic capacity. Maybe that's why they never imported it... I think that the Le Car version was based on the 1st generation Renault 5 which was produced untill 1985. This one is a second generation 5 (1985-1991), 1991 model.
