Hey I'm new to this body, but the obvious knocks and abuse that dont match up with the described use.......check that the serial no. falls outside the affected and recalled batch, if not has it got the documentation from Canon to prove that the work has been done. Any serviced carried out recently, maybe consider a sensor clean??

Mine has a tick under 11k (I keep a very close eye on it) and looks brand new. :)
Mine did fall under the recall but I never had a problem, I only had problems AFTER I sent it in to Canon NJ for a cleaning and they changed the mirror box without even asking me.

I got it back and it was under exposing MORE than -3 stops, I had to send it in about 4 more times to get everything right again. The last time I sent it in, it was under exposing by about a stop and the WB was off through the VF, but all was well through LV.

Its great now, but it just goes to show, if its not broken, dont fix it! :)

As for that body, the LCD is very scratched up but that cover can be replaced. Just make sure there is no damage to the LCD itself.
How much are you picking it up for? I (and I am sure many others) am kinda starting to get sick to my stomach that my 1DIII has dropped so dramatically in price. :(

Have an offer to trade my 7D for one of these...very tempting.

Price wise, you could always go back if you didnt like the 1DIII as the 1DIII is still fetching more than a 7D used.

So, give her a try. If you find you miss the larger photos, 1.6x crop factor and video (To name a few) then just sell her, pocket some cash and go back to the 7D or wait for the 7DII since the rumor section seems to think its going to happen soon. :P

Still kinda thinking about it, but as I am slowly getting away from sports photography I dont really see the need for another 1D series. They are awesome friggin cameras though ;)

The only problem I see is that once you go 1D/1Ds, you'll never go back! :D

I had the 1D2 and 1D2N. Your right though, once you use one for a while they have a way of making everything else seem substandard.

Still, from a value stand point its a better deal for you.
Did you buy your 7D new or used?
If you bought it new then it wont be as strong as a deal but if you picked it up used then you could make a decent chunk.

I have seen 7D's going anywhere from $1000-1200 (And of course the supercrazy asking $2200 for a body alone, do they not remember what they paid? Camera's dont go UP in value lol)

SO TRUE! I pondered on getting the 7d, but went with the 1DMkIII for that fact alone..NOTHING beats a pro body...
